A seasoned cinematographer is much more than simply a ”shooter.“
Every filmmaker at any given moment is a unique blend of talent, knowledge, experience, intuition, temperament and many other intangible qualities. This is why any seasoned cinematographer is much more than simply a "shooter"!

My early years, always a tinkerer. |

At the age of seven, we moved to South Africa where my dad served as a missionary bush pilot based at a hospital in the rugged mountains of Zululand. This began the cultivation of an international world view. Following high school in Durban, I returned to the United States for continued education. |

While at Wheaton College, I discovered media, and switched from Physics to Communications. This led to work in radio as a recording engineer, tech operator for Wheaton's Edman Chapel, lighting design for theater, and my first ventures into film production. BA degree in Communications, 1973

Since college, I've accumulated a colorful track record in all aspects of motion picture production, whether the project is a documentary, music video, industrial, commercial spot, dramatic short or full length feature film. This work has given me an exhaustive background in 16mm, Super-16, and 35mm film, as well as virtually all video formats including High Definition.
This site illustrates my professional career as a filmmaker, cinematographer and editor over the last three decades. |
